larch season: where to see golden larches from vancouver
Honest answer: the nearest larches are a long day trip away.
Subalpine larches do not grow on the North Shore or Sea-to-Sky. The nearest well-known larch hikes from Vancouver are in E.C. Manning Park, such as Frosty Mountain, roughly three hours' drive east, with colour usually from mid-September to early October.
- Check BC Parks: E.C. Manning Park for trail conditions, closures and snow.
- Frosty Mountain is a long, steep day hike. Start early and carry the Ten Essentials.
- Early snow is common in larch season.
Closer fall colour: try Lynn Loop, Pacific Spirit Regional Park or the October list.
Timing and drive time are approximate.
